Welcome to Conference

The quality of public services that citizens and communities receive is determined by the quality of the government estate. Location, cost and effectiveness all play a role in enabling the public sector to use its built assets to build connectivity, regenerate place, and drive economic growth.

The Government’s 2022-2030 Property Strategy outlined how we need our estate to improve and develop, so it meets citizen needs, but is also more efficient, sustainable, and well-utilised. But how much do we know about our built assets? And is there more we can do to help them flourish?

This is the question we will be exploring at Government Property Conference 2024. In our plenary session (12:10), we’re returning to the asset money tree 'planted' at the Conference in 2023 to see how we can nurture it for growth. On our exhibition stand (6), we’ll be showcasing how data can drive smarter, greener and better decisions.

My RLB colleagues and I are looking forward to participating in the discussions and debates around government property. It will be great to hear your views and experiences managing the public sector estate.

Enjoy the conference.
