Our Ethnicity Pay Gap

Our data for 2022/23

We have completed our ethnicity pay analysis using the same methodology set out in the UK Government’s regulations for calculating our gender pay gap.

During the pay period containing 5 April 2023, RLB UK had 919 employees. Ten employees did not receive their full pay due to leave reasons, so a baseline population of 909 employees was used to calculate our ethnicity pay gap metrics.

Our ethnicity declaration rate is currently at 90.2%, meaning in the case of 9.8% of our workforce, either employees chose not to share their ethnicity or we have no record of this information. We have included this ‘unknown’ ethnicity group in our pay distribution chart.

The ethnicity balance of our UK full-pay employees is illustrated in the graphic:

Our ethnicity balance across all pay quarters

The chart below shows our ethnicity balance overall and across the four quarters of our pay range, from the highest-paid to the lowest-paid.

Our biggest risks are at either end of the pay range. If most of the unknown employees in the upper quarter are white and most of the unknown employees in the lower quarter are from ethnic minorities, then imbalances in ethnicity pay would be greatly increased.

We are working hard to improve the accuracy of our data through data-cleansing activities and changing our diversity and inclusions groupings following feedback from our REACH community. This has reduced the gap in our data by 20% since April 2022. This is slightly better than the industry benchmarking data from the Diversity Survey published annually by the Supply Chain Sustainability School, which reports a data gap of 21% for ethnicity unknown.

▉ White ▉ Unknown ▉ Ethnic minority

The remaining gap in our statistics, however, means our data on ethnicity pay must be treated with caution. RLB is committed to taking steps to fill these gaps in our datasets and obtain a more accurate picture on ethnicity pay in order to ensure equality.

We are committed to ensuring that the business remains a fair place to work, and to supporting the professional and career development of all employees from ethnic minorities who join us.
