Net Zero

Achieving sustainable learning

For many schools and academies, the path to net zero carbon can feel daunting. Schools are complex live environments and busy term times provide short windows to make assessments and upgrades. How can ageing assets meet 21st century energy efficiency guidelines?

How we can help

We support schools and academies to approach net zero carbon in a number of ways. Our services range from establishing decarbonisation strategies through to delivering low carbon construction support, proving building accreditation and enabling retrofit solutions.

Our approach focuses on understanding where you are now with your estate, what can be achieved and then developing a strategy of how to get there. We can support you with a comprehensive set of services all geared towards practical delivery – sustainability and net zero planning with cost, asset surveying, M&E, strategy and funding support.

Our experience

The Elliot Foundation Academy Trust (TEFAT)

We have been appointed on a Salix PSDS government-funded decarbonisation project for the Elliot Foundation Academy Trust TEFAT group of schools.

Following the successful completion of our decarbonisation feasibility study, we submitted our report to Salix for further project funding for design work and investment towards the installation of the proposed decarbonisation solutions. The project will include design for both fabric and MEP services, including Air Source Heat Pumps and PV systems, which will support TEFAT’s ambition to reduce its carbon emissions.

Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust

We created a decarbonisation strategy for the Trust that involved fabric and services surveys, a review of energy bills and creation of a recommendation report, with costs.

This strategy enabled the Trust to prioritise funding, ensure that maintenance and related minor works projects are completed and apply for funding through Salix.
